Sexual Education in the United States is inconsistent. It's not required by law in every state to even be medically accurate. This puts young adults and teenagers in a very dangerous and uneducated position when it comes to their own health and safety. Safe-sex education is still seen as taboo in most states; the goal of "In Bloom" is to make the taboo subject matter look beautiful and elegant from a far. Viewers get to see first hand how beautiful education can be. For this piece Elizabeth used condoms, tampons, birth control pills, and a sex education textbook.
